President Trump vows to block other legislation until Congress secures our elections

President Donald Trump just gave Congress an ultimatum on the “SAVE America” voter ID legislation.
“It must be done immediately,” Trump said. “It supersedes everything else. MUST GO TO THE FRONT OF THE LINE. I, as President, will not sign other bills until this is passed.”
This is a game-changer.
For weeks, Senate Republicans have stalled, hoping the issue would go away. They say they don’t have the votes. They say forcing Democrats to do a talking filibuster will be too hard. They say there are more important bills to consider.
Well, not anymore! President Trump’s message means every other bill has to be put on hold. Voter ID is now the only game in town.
Senate leaders are out of excuses. Senate conservatives, led by SAVE Act sponsor Mike Lee, have won a stunning and strategic victory here. He has 50 co-sponsors on his bill — enough to pass the Senate with a vice presidential tie-breaking vote. He has won the public argument — 85% of Americans support voter ID. And now the president is on board.
We’ll know more soon about when the Senate is expected to take up the SAVE Act and whether Republicans will use the talking filibuster strategy.
The fight isn’t over. Senate leaders are geniuses at coming up with excuses to do nothing. But with Trump’s checkmate announcement over the weekend, we could be looking at an all-time win for Senate conservatives against the Swamp Establishment.
