The Post-McConnell Era Has Begun
Mitch McConnell will step down as Republican Leader in November
We have been telling you for months that the era of Mitch McConnell’s war on conservatives was coming to an end. Yesterday, he made it official — announcing that he will step down as Senate Republican Leader in November.
We don’t have to tell you all the ways he has failed conservatives and the country. You already know if you’re on our team.
The Senate Conservatives Fund has done more than any organization in America to stand up to Mitch McConnell's endless betrayals. We have spoken out against his capitulations to the Democrats, we have supported conservative candidates against his hand-picked RINOs, and we spent millions working to defeat him in the 2014 Republican primary election.
McConnell's decision to step down creates one of the biggest opportunities in the past decade for conservatives who want to save this great country.
But that opportunity will be lost if Senate Republicans replace McConnell with another Leader who continues business as usual.
That is why we must begin working now to get Republicans to elect the right person AND to enact the right reforms to secure our country’s future.
The first reform that any future Senate Republican Leader must support is a six-year term limit on their own position.
Every other position on the Senate Republican leadership team has a six-year term limit EXCEPT for the Floor Leader. It makes no sense, and THIS is why Mitch McConnell was in power far too long.
So, before we get into specific candidates for the job, we must tell Senate Republicans that they must limit the next Leader's term.
We cannot stress enough how important this is. No matter who the next Leader is, we cannot have them in that position for a decade or more. We know what will happen. They will gain so much power that there is little to nothing we, the people, can do when they lose their way.

Now is the time for us to build a mandate for this and other reforms.
