Ted Cruz Delivers Donald Trump's New Deal
New TRUMP Accounts help younger Americans become owners and investors
Just in time for America 250, on July 4th, the nation received a ‘yuge’ birthday present from President Donald Trump and Senator Ted Cruz: TRUMP Accounts.
TRUMP Accounts are new, IRA-style savings accounts for children. Cruz wrote the legislation creating them and included it in last year’s One Big Beautiful Bill. The accounts just went live, and more than 6 million Americans have already signed their kids up!
American babies born between 2025 and 2028 will even get $1,000 in seed money from the Treasury for their accounts. Parents, grandparents, friends, and philanthropists can add to children’s TRUMP Accounts until they are 18, when they convert to traditional IRAs.
More than $800 million in contributions have been announced. That money will enable Americans to start building generational wealth while they are still children.
“Trump Accounts are, in many ways, Donald Trump’s New Deal,” Cruz said at the White House announcement ceremony. “But instead of having government taking care of everyone, Trump Accounts are about making every child and every American a capitalist. Every one of our kids is now going to be an owner of the biggest producers in our country.”
If anything, Cruz may be understating his idea’s potential. By giving children access to equity markets and compound returns, TRUMP Accounts could change the way young Americans save for college and first homes. Economists are even speculating that, in time, TRUMP Accounts could create a national groundswell to reform Social Security.
Just like IRAs and 401(k)s transformed the way Americans retire, TRUMP Accounts could change the way Americans begin their life journeys. This could turn out to be one of the great conservative reforms of the 21st century.
In a city full of talking heads and empty promises, TRUMP Accounts are a real, long-term solution to help working families save for the future and set their kids up for success.
