SENATE UPDATE: One Big Beautiful Week?
The Senate may vote this week on President Trump's reconciliation package
Last Week
Last week, the U.S. Senate scored a huge conservative win against the woke Left by passing Sen. Bill Hagerty’s (R-TN) GENIUS Act. Liberal Democrats — led by Sen. Elizabeth “Pocahontas” Warren — fought Hagerty’s pro-innovation, pro-growth, pro-America bill for months. But Hagerty kept fighting — and his bill kept picking up votes. As usual, when conservatives fight, we win!
Thanks to the GENIUS Act, stablecoins will be based on the U.S. dollar, strengthening America’s currency in global markets today and in the digital asset markets of the future. The bill passed by a decisive vote of 68-30. Now it goes back to the House of Representatives, where it should get a vote before the August recess.
Congratulations to Sen. Hagerty, one of SCF’s priority candidates for 2026, on his big win!
Last week, the Senate also confirmed three of President Donald Trump’s nominees:
Gary Andres to be an Assistant Secretary of Health and Human Services (57-40);
Olivia Trusty to be a Member of the Federal Communications Commission (53-45); and,
Rodney Scott to be Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Department of Homeland Security (51-46).
Conservative Spotlight
HAIL TO THE CHIEF. President Donald Trump took decisive action over the weekend, successfully destroying Iran’s remaining nuclear facilities. Best of all, every American warrior involved in Operation Midnight Hammer came home without a scratch. Our peace-loving commander-in-chief gave Tehran’s terror-funding tyrants every opportunity to give up their nuclear program voluntarily. The Ayatollah called Trump’s bluff. They learned the hard way that this president doesn’t bluff.
MIKE LEE — Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) introduced long overdue legislation to finally start selling off unused federal lands to build affordable homes. The feds own more than 40% of all U.S. land west of the Mississippi - meanwhile, the country is short millions of starter homes for young families. The solution is obvious. If we want to take our country back from Washington elites, we literally have to take our land back from them.
ERIC SCHMITT — Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-MO) chaired a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on the cover-up of President Joe Biden’s mental incapacity. Democrats — unable to defend the indefensible — boycotted the hearing. However, Sens. Ted Cruz, Josh Hawley, and Ashley Moody were also there, and what they discovered was “a scandal bigger than Watergate.”
This Week
So far, the Senate has one vote scheduled for this week on Daniel Zimmerman's nomination as an Assistant Secretary of Defense.
But the big news — and the big vote — this week will be on President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill. Final details are still being worked out. But the hope is that by next week, the Senate will have passed its version of the president’s mega tax cut, border security, national defense, and budget cuts legislation.
It’s going to be a dogfight on the Senate floor. But if Republicans stick together and with the president, victory is assured. Stay tuned and stay in the fight!
