SENATE UPDATE: Historic Victories
President Trump and Senate conservatives’ first two months have produced historic victories
Last Week
Lori Chavez-DeRemer was confirmed as Secretary of Labor (67-32).
The Senate passed a stopgap spending bill — a “continuing resolution” — to fund the federal government through September (54-46).
The Senate passed an amended version of the HALT Act, which would impose tougher penalties for fentanyl trafficking (84-16). The bill now goes back to the House of Representatives.
Abigail Slater was confirmed as Assistant Attorney General for Antitrust (78-19). The conservative Slater will now be President Trump’s top cop holding Big Tech monopolies accountable.
The Senate also confirmed Deputy Secretaries of Defense, Labor, and Transportation.
Conservative Spotlight
DOGE CR — President Trump’s outside-the-box strategy to pass a long-term funding bill worked like a charm. Conservatives have traditionally opposed stopgap budgeting, but the situation is very different this year, with Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency racking up so many wins. Extending current federal spending levels right now will actually lead to budget cuts. The strategy checkmated Democrats, who faced a choice of either voting for DOGE or voting for a government shutdown! The Left is now tearing itself to pieces. Democrats on and off Capitol Hill are attacking hapless Leader Chuck Schumer for caving. All we can say is, “Pass the popcorn.”
MIKE LEE — Sens. Mike Lee (R-UT) and Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) introduced a bill outlawing federal government labor unions.
CABINET CONFIRMATIONS—The Senate has officially confirmed President Trump’s cabinet in record time. His 15th and final department head was sworn in weeks earlier than his predecessors.
This Week
The Senate is taking its first recess week of the year. It will be back in session on Monday, March 24.
President Trump and Senate conservatives’ first two months have produced historic victories. The Never Trump GOP Establishment tried and failed to take down Trump’s cabinet picks. Now they’re either retiring or hiding. Congressional Democrats are at war with each other. The border is sealed, and illegals are being deported. Bureaucracies are being shuttered.
This is exactly what conservatives voted for in November. In a few weeks, the biggest fights of the year will commence: Border security and immigration. Tax reform. Spending cuts. And based on what we’ve seen this winter, there is no reason we can’t win all of them.
It’s a new day in Washington — and a new era for America. Thank you again for everything you did to make it happen.
