Combat veteran Pete Hegseth was confirmed by the Senate tonight to serve as Secretary of Defense on a 51-50 vote after Vice President JD Vance broke the tie.
This is fantastic news!
We want to take this moment to thank everyone who contacted their senators to urge them to support Hegseth. Your voices helped send a message that carried this nomination to victory.
We’re also grateful for everything you did to elect strong conservatives to the Senate, who fought every day to make this possible.

Sadly, Republicans Susan Collins (R-ME), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), and Mitch McConnell (R-KY) joined every Democrat in voting against the nomination.
While Collins comes from a blue state that President Trump lost by 6 points, Murkowski and McConnell represent bright red states that deserve better. Alaska elected Trump by a margin of 13 points, and Kentucky did so by 30 points.
Thank you again for your support.
We will continue to push conservative policies, support our Senate fighters, and work to replace RINOs who fail to represent their voters.
