As you may have heard, the Washington Establishment is, once again, high-fiving itself for averting a government shutdown. The Republican House of Representatives and Democrat Senate passed — and then President Biden signed — a 47-day extension of current spending levels.
As usual, the deal was a dud. Republicans punted and accomplished nothing.
First of all, when you hear Beltway people call something a “clean” spending bill, what they mean is without any conservative reforms.
Second, “avoiding” a shutdown in and of itself is not a win for conservatives. The federal government under Joe Biden is equal parts dysfunctional and weaponized. Republicans, happy they kept the lights on, should ask themselves what they really “achieved.”
But most of all, nowhere in the congratulatory press releases and tweets have Republican leaders explained what they will do differently going forward. What’s the use of 47 more days without a plan to win on Day 47?
Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy knew all year that they had until September 30 to figure out how to pass a conservative budget. They did nothing, and they got rolled.
Now they have until November 17. If they don’t get their act together, they’ll just get rolled again. More important, the American people are going to get rolled.
Isn’t it about time The Swamp got rolled for once?
Why is it that every time Washington faces a government shutdown, the so-called “crisis” is “averted” by… giving the Left, the Deep State, and Big Corporations everything they want?
The budget always gets bigger. The debt constantly grows. We fund forever wars around the world, an FBI and IRS at war with the American people, and open borders policies drowning our nation in criminals and drugs.
This is what Washington Republicans celebrate? It’s what the Senate Conservatives Fund wants to end.
We’re sick and tired of Republican leaders cutting deals to save Democrats’ bacon.
We’re sick and tired of Republican leaders’ highest goal being to lose politely.
We’re sick and tired of Republican leaders complaining about the power of Washington Elites… and never coming up with a plan to defeat them!
It’s not enough to want conservative, pro-family, America-First policies. Elected officials have to actually fight for them. And if Republican Senators won’t do that, it’s time to get new Republican Senators.
SCF has been producing them for more than a decade now. Josh Hawley. Ted Cruz. Rand Paul. Mike Lee. Ron Johnson.
They all have two things in common. They fight for our principles, and they don’t care what Washington insiders think of them.
The Swamp says that makes them “radicals” and “obstructionists.” Actually, it makes them “leaders.”
That’s why we support them in the primaries against RINOs, in general elections against Democrats, and all the years in between elections up against the Establishment.
That’s our plan to move America to the right. If Beltway Republicans don’t come up with one by November 17, conservatives should make sure it’s the last time this failed generation of leaders lets us down.
