The 2024 elections are heating up around the country, but inside Washington, the biggest fight this fall will be over the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act.
The SAVE Act is the election integrity bill that Republicans passed through the U.S. House of Representatives in July.
Introduced by Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), the bill would require proof of citizenship for all voters in federal elections and purge non-citizens from state voter rolls.
Democrats, of course, hate the bill. They say the reason is that non-citizens never vote, and voter rolls are clean. Except official state reviews around the country find the opposite:
Pennsylvania just stripped 2,500 non-citizens from its voter rolls.
Texas has removed 6,500 since 2021.
Virginia has removed 11,000 non-citizens from its rolls since 2014 — more than half of those in the last two years!
It is estimated that 10%-27% of non-citizen adults in the United States are registered to vote!
Everyone knows it’s happening — including the Democrats. That’s the real reason they oppose the SAVE Act.

Conservatives in the House and Senate are calling for the SAVE Act to be included in the stop-gap spending bill Congress must pass before the end of the Fiscal Year on September 30.
House Speaker Mike Johnson is a strong supporter of the SAVE Act and said he may include it in the government funding bill the House takes up this month. That would also give him leverage against Democrats as the deadline nears.
If Democrats want to fund government operations — and if they really believe non-citizen voting is a myth — then there’s no reason not to include the SAVE Act in the annual spending bill this month.
But that will never happen unless we send a very loud message to Washington right now. We need to raise the volume on this issue to the point where the Democrats cannot hide from it without exposing their plan to allow non-citizens to interfere with our elections.
