Football coaches always say, “Defense creates offense.” That is, stopping the other team is the first step toward scoring yourself. The same is true in the Senate.
In 2023, Senate conservatives played great defense.
Stalwarts like Sens. Mike Lee and Rand Paul helped stop The Swamp from mindlessly funding another forever war in Ukraine.
Conservative Sens. Ted Cruz and Ron Johnson have kept so much pressure on Joe Biden’s illegal immigration policies that his administration has been unable to hide the crisis.
Sen. Tommy Tuberville’s months-long stand against Joe Biden’s “abortion travel agency” at the Pentagon defended unborn babies and the Constitution while stopping the woke-military industrial complex in its tracks.
Sen. Josh Hawley led conservative efforts to stop the Biden FBI from targeting innocent Americans — like parents and Catholics — from political persecution.
The question for 2024 is: how do we turn this defense into offense?
First, Senate Republicans need to leverage Joe Biden’s spectacular unpopularity. With a public approval rating in the low-thirties, Joe Biden needs to come to the GOP, not the other way around.
Second, when Biden comes, hat in hand, conservatives need to insist on our priorities, not the priorities of corporate lobbyists.
Border security. Accountability for any Ukraine money. Defunding the Pentagon’s abortion racket. Defunding woke corruption. Cracking down on anti-semitic universities and pro-crime local governments.
But if conservatives want Republican Senators to keep the pressure on Biden, we have to keep the pressure on Republican Senators!
We know that Republican leaders left to their own devices, will work with Democrats to grow government and serve globalist elites at the expense of working families.
But the more money grassroots conservatives raise for our Senate candidates, the more leverage we have over the GOP Establishment. And the more leverage we have, the better chance we have of replacing Mitch McConnell with a Republican leader who will actually fight for our values.
The bottom line is this: If we want to turn conservative defense into conservative offense — and conservative wins — we have to show Senate Republicans that we don’t work for them. They work for us.
SCF’s endorsement is the gold standard of principled, patriotic leadership. Our candidates fight — for the Constitution, for freedom, for America. They are the only ones who can turn defense into offense and opportunity into victory.
In 2024 — and every year — we are the ones who can help them do it.
