Eric Schmitt's MVP Week
Senator Eric Schmitt is winning on and off the field
Conservative superstar Senator Eric Schmitt (R-MO) just posted the Week of the Year on Capitol Hill.
First, Schmitt passed $350 million in new immigration enforcement funding through the Senate. The money would specifically target illegal immigrants released from custody in so-called “sanctuary” cities and states.
As you know, liberal mayors and governors have for years tried to nullify federal immigration law and refused to help ICE agents deport criminal migrants. Schmitt attached the new dedicated funding stream to the immigration enforcement package that finally ended the Democrats’ Homeland Security shutdown.
“Sanctuary cities created one of the most indefensible public-safety failures in America,” Schmitt said. “If sanctuary cities will not protect their people, ICE will have the resources to do the job. This is a major victory for public safety, border security, and the rule of law.”
Schmitt’s proposal — now signed into law by President Trump — is one of the biggest immigration wins of the year.
Then, just a few days later, Schmitt was named Most Valuable Player of the annual Congressional Baseball Game!
Playing left field for the GOP squad, Schmitt made a diving, acrobatic catch that bloodied his nose, brought the crowd to its feet, and earned a spot on ESPN’s Top Ten Plays of the Day!
At a time when far too many Senate Republicans are failing to deliver, Eric Schmitt is a fighter we can count on.
